Is country the same as culture?

A country's culture is one important influence on how people work, but it's far from the only one.

Culture comes in layers

Everyone's cultural style is shaped by many things, including where they grew up, the languages they speak, their profession, the organizations they've worked in, their generation and their own personal experiences. Two people from the same country can work very differently, and two people from opposite sides of the world can have a lot in common.

What country insight tells you

Country insight, like our Country Guides and country Worldprism™ profiles, shows the general tendencies of a country: how people there typically communicate, make decisions or build trust. It's a helpful starting point, especially when you're new to working with a country, but it won't describe every individual.

Why your own profile matters

That's why Worldprism™ looks at you as an individual, not just where you're from. Comparing your profile with a colleague's shows how the two of you actually work, while comparing with a country helps you prepare for the wider culture you'll be working in.
